It is not without good reason that South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi National Parks combine to form a classic tailor made African safari holiday, simply add a touch of class with two wonderful camps and you can expect a stylish short safari.

From Mfuwe, a short connecting flight from Lusaka you reach the cottages of Kaingo Camp overlooking the Luangwa River. This small owner run camp by Shenton Safaris brings stylish décor and personal service to your safari experience. From bush walks to game drives and tasty lunches under a grove of ebony trees Kaingo is a fine way to start this safari. Wildlife in the area is plentiful with impala, endemic Cookson's wildebeest, waterbuck, buffalo and elephants. This area of South Luangwa is good for lions, leopards and wild dogs too and is one of the reasons we chose Kaingo Camp for the touch of luxury this safari requires.

Wildlife photographers and those intent on capturing great photos of South Luangwa's varied species will also relish Kaingo Camp as a short distance from camp there are photographic hides for hippos, elephants and seasonally for carmine bee-eaters. A little further afield near a sister camp is a waterhole hide.

A direct flight from Mfuwe takes you in an hour or so to Jeki airstrip in Lower Zambezi National Park. Your safari immediately continues as you drive across the grasslands and into winterthorn trees where elephants, zebra, impala, waterbuck, leopards and a host of other wildlife seek refuge from the heat of the day. Your next destination is Anabezi, a slightly larger luxury tented camp than Kaingo. The rooms are huge each with their own plunge pool on the deck and there is a delightfully large open dining deck and public space as well as quieter areas to retreat too away from your room.

Safari activities from Anabezi are very relaxed, game drives occur early morning and late afternoons, walking safaris are usually in the cool of the mornings whilst canoe safaris take place on quieter waters away from the main river channel in the afternoons. Lazy boating on the Zambezi past hippos and crocs with elephants crossing the river or coming down to the waterside to drink is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. As sunset comes around again sundowners are de rigeur and are usually followed by a night drive. Leopards sightings in this area of Lower Zambezi have been phenomenal. Whatever you decide to do each day you will be sure to a collection of special safari memories from Zambia.

This is just an example of possibilities available for trips to this area. Price is dependant on season, style of accommodation and length of stay. Please contact us for further details
