Jawai Leopard Camp

Jawai is a fabulous camp, a complete surprise in it's rural setting. The almost stark black, white and stainless steel furnishings ensures a chic, boutique camp that is like nothing else in India. The design is entirely from SUJÁN owners who wanted to mark out the camp as something inspiring in a rugged landscape. There are just 8 spacious, luxury tents each on its own deck in the grasslands facing out to the surrounding granite mountains; and a Royal Suite that has a private pool deck, butler and private jeep available for wildlife safaris and excursions. The main open plan lounge deck, dining and pool area all offer the sophisticated traveller comfort in the open air with the wilderness just a step or two away.

Leopards roam these hills of Rajasthan between Jodhpur and Udaipur and not too far from the fabulous Jain temple at Ranakpur. Over hundreds of years the local Rabari herdsmen of the surrounding villages have learnt to live the proximity of leopards to their livestock. The scenery is beautiful and the nature wild particularly the leopards that blend effortlessly into the pink granite domes as the sun goes down. Are you likely to see leopards here, almost certainly yet, there is a good resident population known by name and a number of transients that pass through the area. Bird life is prolific too, due to the presence of Jawai bandh that holds water year round, Sarus cranes, flamingos and many aquatic species can be found here.
