Kanana Camp

Kanana Camp (meaning paradise in Setswana) is located in the remote inner reaches of the Okavango Delta. The eight tents offer en-suite facilities and decks overlooking the delta. The common facilities of the camp are also built up on stilts overlooking the floodplains and include the main dining area, lounge area and small curio shop. Below the deck and near the jetty is the open fireplace.

A wide variety of game frequents the islands around Kanana Camp, including impala, lechwe, leopard, lion and elephant. Indeed on a visit here we witnessed elephants wandering across the airstrip and a lion kill, also at the airstrip. Game drives are in open 4X4 vehicles both during the day and at night. Mokoro and boat excursions on the waterways are popular and make this an excellent choice of camp for safari activities in the delta.

Kanana Camp is one of the few camps in the Delta to have its own heronry where many migratory water birds come to nest from July onwards. Kanana is also known for its regular sightings of the elusive Pel's Fishing Owl.
