This 9-day self-drive provides the perfect blend of nature based and fun activities for adults and children alike and will leave you with outstanding memories for many years to come as you explore the National Parks, visit the Arctic Circle and discover the many delights of Finland along the way.
Your journey begins in Oulu and takes you to Finland's only Geopark at Rokua before embarking on some family fun at the Angry Birds Activity Park in Vuokatti, the world's largest! Not exclusive to winter holidays, you will also be able to join a husky safari, travelling in specially adapted carts on wheels before enjoying some family time at the beach.
Moving on towards the Russian border, and perhaps a highlight for many, will be an encounter with the brown bears which you will view from the safety of a hide before spending the night on a former dairy farm.
Hossa National Park is home to the oldest rock paintings in northern Finland and here you can choose to explore on foot or maybe hire a canoe, before meeting the reindeer and feeding them by hand as well as honing your lassoing skills!
Introduce the children to a whole host of Arctic wildlife at Ranua Wildlife Park, where wide open spaces provide environments as close as possible to each species natural habitat. Lynx, wolverine, wolves and moose all live here, as do the only polar bears in Finland!
Finally, the moment the kids have been waiting for, it's time to meet Santa at his Arctic Circle home. Here the magic of Christmas is always alive and as well as meeting the man himself, you can see the elves hard at work creating the festive spirit year round.
You may choose to end you journey in Rovaniemi or head back to the beginning in Oulu. You may even wish to extend your time in Finland to experience the capital city of Helsinki before heading home from a summer holiday with a difference.
