This suggested itinerary highlights some of the possibilities around Sydney. Note that there are variations to this trip that we are happy to work through with you.
Today there is a chance to have a very different perspective of Sydney. You will learn about some of the native flora and fauna around the city and to take a look into its Aborginal past. In the evening you set sail on board a 38ft sailing yacht for an introduction to the waters around the harbour and straits. Of course there is time to relax and you may wish to snorkel from the boat before enjoying a delicious meal.
A swift flight by helicopter sees you out over the harbour with the bridge and Opera House and up into the clean air of the Blue Mountains to the southwest. You come to land in a remote valley to meet your wilderness guide and host. The rest of the day is tailored to your interests, perhaps taking a bush walk to look for wildlife or birds, perhaps fly-fishing in the river or for the more adventurous a kayak paddle and 4x4 off road trip in little visited areas. Watch the sunset on a memorable day with a cool drink followed by a sumptuous meal. Tonight you will experience an Australian swag, a bush bed like no other though as this swag is rather luxurious, mounted on a wooden platform and with cotton sheets and soft pillows. Overhead is a canopy of stars stretching across the sky. There is of course a shower and en-suite facilities.
A fresh morning coffee in the bush and a short walk or swim before breakfast are a fine way to start the day. You are whisked back to Sydney for a transfer to the flight to Lord Howe Island where there is time to relax and explore this magical place from the luxury of Capella Lodge.
Only 11km long and at its widest just 2km, Lord Howe was discovered in 1788 and today is a World Heritage site for its rare collection of plants, birds and marine life as well as its exceptional beauty. It has the southernmost coral reef in the world and remarkable volcanic peaks that are home to endangered endemic species only found on the island such as the woodhen. There are a good number of activities such as hikes up the mountains to the cloudforest, snorkelling, diving and kayaking plus bike rides that can be done on this island paradise and you are sure to fill your days exploring.
