Husky Dog-Sledding - Lapland

For the outdoor enthusiast who really wants to experience the wild nature of Lapland there is no better experience than this. Drive your sled dogs through the west of Lapland, passing beautiful forests, close to the mountains and over frozen lakes and along rivers. Idyllic landscapes that hold a real magic. Each evening you will arrive at simple, but cosy huts with saunas. Here, after looking after your dogs you can enjoy wholesome meals and telling tales around the fire. A simple but very pleasing life a long way from home.

Day 1 Arrive Muonio.
Depart UK. Arrive at Kittilä airport and transfer by road to Muonio. There will be an evening get together with the group and information about the programme for the week. Dinner and overnight in double rooms (with shower / wc) at the centre or in log cabins nearby.

Day 2 Instruction and Safari into the wilds.
After breakfast you will be provided with safari equipment. You meet the dogs and pack the sleds. You will be taught how to handle the sled and have some practice. After lunch the safari starts.

Days 3 - 5 Husky safari.
The safari will take you through beautiful winter scenery close to the Pallas-Ounas National Park in western Lapland. Overnight stays in simple wilderness huts that have no hot water, nor electricity; there is an outside toilet and you do have the luxury of a sauna. You take care of your dog team as this helps you to get to know them and is part of the enjoyment of the trip. You will help to prepare meals together with the group. Breakfast and dinner are prepared in the huts, light lunches by open fires in the wilderness.

Day 6 Return to the centre.
During the afternoon return to centre. In the evening there is a farewell dinner. Overnight at the centre or in log cabins nearby.

Day 7 Depart Finland.
After breakfast transfer to Kittilä airport for your return flights to the UK via Helsinki.
