Surrounded by native birdsong and the tranquil sounds of 50 acres of regenerating bush the Resurgence offers a unique place to stay in the Riwaka Valley. Kaiteriteri, gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park is only 20 mins away and the magnificent Kahuranghi National Park, a true wilderness area and home to the great spotted kiwi, is also on your doorstep. This is the perfect spot from which to explore an untouched part of New Zealand.
Your hosts Peter and Clare are well travelled themselves and endeavour to offer a true kiwi welcome. They have created a wonderful retreat that successfully combines a friendly atmosphere with comfortable accommodation and a high degree of personal space. Their great love of the outdoors is evident, they are passionate about the beautiful region in which they live and will do their utmost to ensure you have the very best experience.
There is a choice of accommodation at the Resurgence. Four rooms are located in the main lodge and perfect for guests wanting a genuine 'lodge' experience. Then just a short walk from the lodge you will find the bush chalets. Nestled deep in the bush with outstanding views of the Kahuranghi National Park these are perfect if you prefer to be a little more independent as offer a kitchen and BBQ. The bush lodge suites offer luxury and solitude and are beautifully finished with polished timber floors and a spacious open plan design. If booking a bush chalet or lodge you have the choice of full lodge-style pampering or self-catering if a little more freedom is your preference. Clare is however an excellent chef and we would suggest that even if choosing to self-cater you should definitely indulge in dinner during your stay here!
With the Abel Tasman National Park, Kahurangi National Park, Nelson and Golden Bay within easy reach you are spoilt for choice. For the outdoor enthusiast and keen nature lover the Abel Tasman is a mecca for kayaking and hiking whilst the Kahuranghi offers true unspoilt wilderness, walking and endless opportunities for bird lovers. Nearby, Nelson overflows with art galleries, fabulous wineries and hours of sunshine and if you have a little more time a journey 'over the hill' to Golden Bay offers an alternative lifestyle, endless beaches and the remarkable Farewell Spit.
