Costa Rica

Lapa Rios Eco Lodge

Lapa Rios is a small upmarket lodge with just 16 private cottages descending a ridgeline among in 1000 acres of private lowland rainforest on the Osa Peninsula. The whole project is built on sustainable initiatives and is designed to help protect this stunning region and support local communities.

The main lodge sits over 100m above the sea affording tremendous views and catching the cooling breeze. Beneath are some lovely, remote beaches. A feature of the main lodge is its panoramic deck looking out over the forest canopy, a good place for a coffee in the morning or something stronger in the evening.

This is a place to come to towards the end of a holiday in Costa Rica to both relax and to enjoy the abundant nature but it is not a beach hotel per se. At Lapa Rios there are a number of different guided activities available from morning birding walks to surf lessons, all help you to explore and understand the special nature of this area. Equally there are plenty of opportunities to relax either on your own deck with busy toucans and fiery-billed aracaris in the trees for amusement, or by the pool where you may be lucky to see the resident armadillow wandering by at dusk.
